Northumbrian Water Ltd (NWL) has gone out to tender with a contract for the supply of electricity, gas, and electricity meter operator services worth an estimated £420 million-plus.
Estimated total value of purchases for the entire duration of the framework agreement is £420.75 million.
Northumbrian Water has a requirement for electricity and gas supplies across its operational areas. The utility is a major user of electricity with approximately 500 Half Hourly import meters, 1,300 Non-Half Hourly import meters and 16 Half Hourly electricity export meters.
In the gas portfolio, NWL has 21 import meters and 1 export meter at its Gas to Grid plant. NWL requires a supplier/exporter of electricity, a supplier/exporter of gas and a Meter Operator / Data Aggregator for the portfolio.
The water company is looking to appoint up to three suppliers to a framework agreement which could run for up to 10 years. The electricity and gas contracts are for an initial period of 4 years, which can be extended by a further 3 years and then extended again by a further 3 years. The meter operator contract is a 5 year contract term.
Proposed starting date for the framework is 1st April 2018.
